BOONE – Guy Melvin Punch, 96 of Boone formerly of Catawba County passed away on July 7, 2010 at Watauga Medical Center.
Born January 9, 1914 in Catawba County, he was a son of the late John A. and Beulah Miller Punch. Mr. Punch’s hobbies included gardening, walking and meeting friends. He enjoyed life and was devoted to his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Essie Punch, second wife, Doris Punch; two sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Lila Pitts Punch of Supply, NC; daughters, Norma Jean Yount of Conover, Wanda Diane Drum and husband Ted, of Newland and Janet Sigmon of Conover; sons, Dwight M. Punch and wife, Debbie of Hickory and Dwight M. Huffstetler and wife, Barbara of Newton; sisters, Alice Wilson of Conover and Lena Reinhardt of Raleigh and brother, Johnny Punch of Conover; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren and many more nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Catawba Funerals & Cremations on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at 3 pm. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 2 – 3 pm.
